そんな中に、田中絹代の抱えている事情や思いがスパイスとして効いていて、それがほのぼの楽しいだけでは終わらない味を醸し出している。ここは見ていて思わず「わ、真似したい！」と思うほど印象的。実写映像のリアリズムと漫画表現のリアリズムは別物だけれど、でも勉強になりました。

で、別にどういということのない日常風景が繰り広げられるのだが、ディテール豊かなそれが実に面白い。顔なじみになった泊まり客同士のユーモラスなやりとりも可笑しく、あちこち見ていてクスクス。ユーモア描写は『按摩と女』よりも更に洗練されている印象。

いちおう大筋としては、湯の中で簪を踏んで怪我をしてしまった青年（笠智衆）と、落とし主の美女（田中絹代）の間に芽生える仄かな恋情的なプロットがあるが、それがダイナミックに展開するわけではなく、二人とその周囲の人々の細かな日常風景の描写が主眼。

夕飯食べて『簪』見終わった。清水宏監督の1941年作。山奥の温泉宿に訳ありらしい美女がやってきて…というパターンは、前に見た同監督の『按摩と女』と良く似ており、なんだか姉妹作を見ている気分に。そしてやはり製作年代を考えると、このナチュラルなリアリズム表現にはビックリ。
